Pots and Pans Donations Drive

The community-wide Pots and Pans Donations Drive was initiated by the Emergency Food Team of the Sacramento Board on Homelessness in 2001, to move "gently used" kitchenware from overstuffed kitchen cabinets into the hands of low-income residents in need. The Team was chaired by Sacramento Hunger Commission staff, and included representatives from the Department of Human Assistance (DHA), Salvation Army, Loaves and Fishes, and other human service organizations and transitional housing facilities. The drive has received strong support from the DHA Director, Cheryl Davis, and one of the drop-off sites for donations is Mather Community Campus, a DHA transitional housing facility. Several county and city departments and students at the University of California, Davis have participated in Pots and Pans drives. We encourage churches, schools, Scout troops and other groups to organize similar drives, as the project is expected to continue as long as there is a need.

For more information on organizing drives and the distribution process please contact Hunger Commission staff.
