Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Nutrition Program (WIC)The Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program is a supplemental food and nutrition program for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and post-partum women and their children under age 5. WIC provides coupons to buy specific supplemental nutritious foods, nutrition education and counseling, medical care referrals, and breastfeeding promotion and support. The program aims to decrease the risk of poor birth outcomes and to improve the health of participants during critical times of growth and develop. In Sacramento County there are two agencies, Sacramento County WIC and the Community Resources Project WIC (CRP WIC), offering WIC services. Each agency has four clinics.
