Farmers' Markets

Farmers' Markets are an excellent way to contribute to community food security by supporting your local farmers, purchasing seasonal fruits and vegetables for your own health and getting great ideas and recipes from thousands of different people within your own community (everyone has an opinion about food at a Farmers' Market!). Farmers' Markets re-establish the link between the farmer and the consumer. The produce is usually picked the day of the Farmers' Market, often by the very person selling you the food, thus eliminating the need to have your food travel thousands of miles through dozens of hands before it reaches your family dinner table. You can feel great knowing you are contributing to your local economy while munching on some of the freshest food available to you.

For more information on Farmers' Markets, including locations and times of the Sacramento area markets, see the links page in the Community Food Security section.
