Recommendations and Solutions

There are several viable options for improving food access in North Sacramento and Del Paso Heights. The following findings and recommendations are a reflection of discussions that took place among 77 community members who participated in five community input meetings, and additional input provided by 69 individuals who completed a food access survey based on the same questions posed at the meetings.

Because there is a vast difference in needed resources for various strategies, the Hunger Commission has chosen to divide the results into two categories:

Short Range Recommendations: strategies that could be implemented immediately with enough community interest and would not require extensive financial support.

Long Range Recommendations: strategies that will conceivably take a year or longer to implement, will require extensive community collaboration and will likely require some financial support.
